Our Story
Tom Allen had been dreaming of turning his love for homebrewing beer into a profession for years. But it wasn’t until a playground chat with his friend Matt Guernsey that Arlington Brewing Company was born.
As the two engineers and Arlington residents watched their kids play during the pandemic, they talked about adding a new ingredient to the Arlington, Massachusetts, beer scene.
Hundreds of test brews and many award-winining beers later, Tom and Matt are united by their desire to feel and share the happiness that quality beer brings.

Tom Allen, Co-founder + Head Brewer
What do robots and tasty beers have in common? The details matter.
Meet Tom, head brewer at Arlington Brewing Company. Tom spent two decades in robotics and manufacturing engineering, where he specialized in designing for quality and consistency—both needed to make every beer taste great, sip after sip.
Tom has devoted years to understanding both the art and the science of creating world-class beers. He’s won lots of beer-making awards (go Tom!), and he loves that in brewing there’s always something new to learn. As a result, our beers are consistently delicious and engineered to make you happy.
Matt Guernsey, Co-founder + Business Manager
After 15 years in cleantech business management, Matt was ready to explore new ventures that could make a more direct and positive impact on his community. Matt was energized by the idea of using his engineering and business background to help Arlington Brewing Company grow into a lasting part of this town. He loves following a dream that feels better with every beer served.
